Answers to Tax FAQs for People Living in Windsor and Essex County

At Ferrera Income Tax in Windsor we believe in sharing information with our clients and answering all your questions. We are currently assembling a list of answers to frequently asked questions so that tax-saving information is more readily available. Q: When can I expect my Canadian refund?

A: Typically refunds take 7-10 business days if you e-file. 4-6 weeks for paper filed returns.


Q: How long should you keep your income tax records?

A: Keep your supporting documents for six years. For Business or rentals, we suggest keeping them longer.


Q: Do you close for summer?

A: No, we are available year round to assist you. We are closed on Wednesdays during our off season (July – Dec). We also closed on most holidays. Please call ahead to ensure we are open.


Q: What are the due dates for filing?

A: Canadian Filing deadline is April 30, the U.S. Filing deadline is April 15, and self-employed (including spouse) is June 15. Note: RRSP must be purchased before Feb 28.


Note: If these dates fall on Saturday or Sunday, the new deadline will be the Monday following the deadlines above.
